I may never catch up....

Well, the plan was to catch up on my blog before school started again for the summer, but alas that did not happen. It is amazing how fast 3 weeks can go by. I ended last quarter on a fabulous note. I made the deans list with a 4.0 GPA. I am already in my second week of the summer quarter. I am taking an accounting class and an English class. So far so good. Although, my accounting teacher has picked up the pace from last quarter and is moving along very quickly. Last quarter, it seems like he covered a new concept every 3 days, and now we get a new concept every day. So I am having to stay on my toes. My english class turned out to be a hybrid class (1/2 online-1/2 in class). I didn't sign up for that, but so far it's not to bad. I only have to be in class a couple days a week and the other two I get to come home. I have been very intimidated about taking an online class, so this may be a good thing after all.

In other news, I got a new calling at church. The title is visiting teaching coordinator. For those of you not in our church, they have a program called visiting teaching. If you are willing, you are paired up with another woman and given a list of anywhere from 1-5 women to visit every month. The idea of the program is wonderful. As a companionship, we are responsible to make sure that the needs of the sisters that we visit are being met, be their friend, share a spiritual message with them, and most of all be a support to them. If we can't meet their needs, then we can enlist the help of the men (home teachers), or the bishop if necessary. The Savior says that we need to love our neighbor as ourselves, and this is a wonderful way to help all of us live up to His admonition. Anyway, as the coordinator, it is my responsibility to organize the entire ward of women. All 200 of them! Not overwhelming at all! I am fortunate that the Relief Society president didn't just dump it all in my lap, but is easing me into it, especially with school. I will have to report on this after a few months, to see how it goes. I can say this much right now. If you are a visiting teacher, PLEASE PLEASE go and see your sisters, and not just so you can check it off the list of things to do!

Ok, let's see what else, oh, I splurged yesterday and treated myself to a new Kitchenaid mixer. I will share the reason for my splurge the next time I post at the advice of a very sweet friend from church!

Well, my concentration is lacking. That must be a sign that I am getting tired, so I will close for now. Sorry there are no pictures. I know blogs are much more interesting with pictures, but I just didn't feel like it tonight. Until next time.......

  1. Congratulations on your GPA!! That is so fantastic!!

I admire you so much. That calling has got to be a lot to handle because of the huge amount of turnover in the ward. I know you are doing a great job, though ☺
