OK, so I have been sick for almost a week now and I hate it. I have a sinus infection. Today is a nice day so I decided to go out and play in the dirt a little. No big deal, right? I have 2 square foot gardens in my back yard, so I went out to clean up all the pine cones and pine needles. Then I wanted to just break up the soil and disrupt any old root structures before I get ready to plant this spring. I got all the top stuff off and got my hand held garden tool to dig up the soil and to my GREAT surprise (I nearly had a heart attack) I found a toad or frog of some sort buried under the soil. Alive no less. I was finally getting over the shock of it all and had moved on to the next box, when I found another frog! I have not heard of hibernating frogs. It can't be a coincidence to find two frogs in two separate boxes in one 30 minute span.
Anyway, I finished digging (very carefully after my discovery), and I think I am ready to start planting. I will try this week to get lettuce, spinach, and beans in the ground. It may seem early to do that, but we have an amazingly long growing season here.
In other news, I got my acceptance letter from Augusta Tech. I go in a week from today to take my placement exam. UGH! I did OK on the english and basic math in the sample exam they sent me, but I don't remember anything about Algebra. Once I get that over with, I should know what my classes will be. I start the spring quarter March 27th. Wish me luck. It has been 19 years since I graduated high school. (Am I really old enough to say that?) This could be a very challenging two years.
Thanks to my sister-in-law for reminding me that I have a blog out there in cyberspace. I will work on getting more pictures for you to see.
P.S. Mady made the track team! She was originally going to run the mile, but has changed her mind and is going to try the 400m and the hurdles. She is finding that it is harder than she thought to balance seminary, school, track, piano, mutual, chores, and homework. She is up at 5am and doesn't get home until 5:30pm. Then she gets to do homework, chores, piano, church, etc. I think she will settle into a routine, but it is definitely an adjustment. I suppose that as soon as I start going back to school, I will find that a bit of an adjustment too.
