This heat is killing us!!!

So I just have to vent a bit. This summer has been the hottest one since we have lived here in 4 years. My electric bill is proof. I thought last month was insane when the bill came in at $499. That was higher than any other since we have lived here. But this month topped that at $574! That is a house payment!!! I finally decided that I needed to move the AC from 78 to 80. I am grateful that we have the money to cover it, but I feel awful for those who can't afford it. Either they have to suffer from heat stroke or starve in order to pay the bill. How do people do it? I know that people lived before air conditioning, but I couldn't be more grateful that I wasn't born in those times. OK, I have said my peace.
